Who am I? Bio
1) Who are YOU? (Your DES Major Study/Emphasis/Concentration; Interests; etc…)
Hello,
I am Hunter Davids and Industrial designer who currently lives in San Francisco. I grew up in a small town 15 minutes outside Boston Massachusetts. When I was 11 years old I moved to San Diego California. My interests include surfing, hiking, climbing, fishing, and anything art based. I love to surf and have been surfing for the past 15 years. My love for the ocean has also connected me deeply with fishing. Although I live on land I find myself most comfortable in the water. I also love the mountains, this is where you can find me hiking, camping or climbing. Climbing has been a fairly new adventure I've taken on head first. The personal achievement you feel after finishing a climb is a great feeling that keeps me continuing to push myself to harder and higher climbs! When I'm not outside you can usually find me in a workshop or an art studio. I love to use my hands and make things, whiter its a piece of furniture, ceramics or a painting I love the craft of using my hands. This is ultimately what led me to become an Industrial/Product designer! As the term product designer has drastically changed over the past few years let me elaborate on what id like to with design. I love to solve problems and by solving problems through product design by designing a product is simply satisfying. I told myself from a young age I want to do meaningful work in life, and I plan on doing this with design by solving problems and helping people. I would love to design prosthetics as I believe this technology is on the brink of major breakthroughs that will help people with disabilities live a more "normal" life. I've also have an interest in design products to help animals with disabilities, such as bling or deaf animals. With my love of action sports, my dream job would be to design products for action sports athletes such as surfers, climbers, or backpackers. I would love to design products for athletes and have the opportunity to test the products alongside them.

2) What Inspires/”WOWs” YOU? (provide an “inspirational” Quote)
What inspires me is science and pushing technology, all well-thinking simply and efficiently. When I see a new invention/toy/product that does something useful in a very simple way I feel inspired to come up with new ways to implement that technology. I also feel inspired by people who push the limit and don't stop trying until the goal or challenge is met. Life often can be hard and challenging but those who use the challenge as a means to motivate and better themselves are inspiring in there resilience and tenacity to complete a task.
3) Who, or What are your influences?
A person who influences me, Adam Savage. When I first started watching Mythbusters when I was a kid it was Adams excitement for science and design that kept me coming back. The way he gets excited when something is built and works is truly influential. Keith Haring is also a big influence in my life as he is my favorite artist. His simple designs are so pleasing and always seem to put a smile on my face. I really like how he used art to stand up for things he believed in. Tommy Caldwell is also a big influence in my life as his story is truly inspiring as he never gives up. As a climber, he pushes himself to the edge (literally) and he never stops until he achieves what he set out to. Even with 9 fingers, he is still one of the best mountain climbers alive, and his hard work ethic and kind soul have a huge impact on how I make decisions.
4) What is your Vision or HOPE in your life(time)? (academically; professionally; and/or socially)
My vision for life is to have a family and support them with a job that I enjoy going to every day. I also hope to travel the world and see all parts of it, as well as going back to school and getting more degrees in things that interest me. Academically I want to continue to learn till the day I die. Professionally I want to make an impact on the world. And socially I strive to be a person everyone can get along with.
6) Provide Six 3-6 “Key Words” that best describe YOU
